Drawer guide rails play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth sliding and stability of drawers. Whether you need to remove or install these guide rails, it's important to follow the correct steps. In this article, we will guide you through the process, providing clear instructions for both tasks. Additionally, we will discuss the types of drawer guide rails available and their approximate costs.
Removing the Drawer Guide Rails:
Step 1: Determine the Type of Slide Rail:
Before removing the drawer, identify whether it has a three-section slide rail or a two-section slide rail. Gently pull the drawer out, and you should see a long black tapered buckle. Pull the black protruding long bar buckle downwards to stretch it, thereby loosening the slide rail.
Step 2: Detaching the Rail:
Simultaneously press down on the long buckles on both sides while pulling the sides outwards. As you do this, the black buckles will separate, allowing the drawer to come out easily.
Installing the Drawer Guide Rails:
Step 1: Understanding the Composition:
Familiarize yourself with the components of drawer guide rails, including the movable rail, inner rail, middle rail, and fixed rail (outer rail).
Step 2: Removing Inner Rails:
Before installation, remove all inner rails from the drawer slides. Simply unclip the circlip of each inner rail towards the body and carefully pull them out, ensuring the guide rails remain undamaged.
Step 3: Installing the Main Body of the Guide Rail:
Attach the main body of the drawer slide rail to the side panel of the cabinet. Panel furniture often includes pre-drilled holes for convenient installation. Ideally, install the rail before assembling the furniture.
Step 4: Installing Inner Rails:
Using an electric screw drill, secure the inner rails of the drawer slide onto the outer surface of the drawer. Note the spare holes on the inner rail for adjusting the drawer's front-to-back position during installation.
Step 5: Connecting and Installing the Drawer:
To complete the installation, insert the drawer into the cabinet body. Press the snap springs located on both sides of the inner rail with your fingers, then align and slide the main body of the guide rail parallel to the cabinet. The drawer should smoothly slide into place.
