How to Choose the Length of Drawer Slides - Drawer Slide Sizes Drawer Slides Selection Points

As an essential component in any drawer, the drawer slide plays a vital role in its functionality. In this article, we will discuss the selection criteria and installation process for drawer slides.

Drawer Slide Size and Specifications:

The drawer's slide rail is fixed on a designated track, allowing for smooth movement of the drawer. It is available in various sizes on the market, including 10 inches, 12 inches, 14 inches, 16 inches, 18 inches, 20 inches, 22 inches, and 24 inches. One should choose a slide size that matches the dimensions of their drawer.

Installation Steps for Drawer Slides:

1. Before installing the drawer slide, consider the rebound space required. If the furniture is not pre-finished, ensure there is sufficient space for the drawer to rebound. Manufacturers typically account for this space in finished furniture.

2. Drawer installation methods can be categorized as low drawer or inner drawer. Low drawers protrude from the cabinet and do not align at the top and bottom, while inner drawers retract fully inside the cabinet.

3. The drawer slide consists of three parts: the movable rail (inner rail), middle rail, and fixed rail (outer rail).

4. Before installation, remove the inner rail carefully from the main body of the slide rail to avoid any damage.

5. Install the outer and middle rail sections of the split slide rail onto both sides of the drawer box. Next, attach the inner rail to the side panel of the drawer. For finished furniture, pre-drilled holes are available for convenient installation. If assembling on-site, holes must be drilled. It is recommended to assemble the entire drawer before installing the slide rail. The track includes two holes for adjusting the drawer's vertical and horizontal position.

6. Finally, place the drawer into the box, making sure to hold the circlip of the inner rail during installation. Slowly push the drawer parallel to the bottom of the box.

Points to Consider When Choosing Drawer Slides:

1. Pay attention to the structure of the drawer guide rails. Integrated guide rails offer superior load-bearing capacity compared to three-point connections. Ensure the guide rail material is of high quality, as inferior materials can impact rail performance.

2. Choose guide rails based on individual kitchen needs and consider the number of drawers required. Assess the load-bearing capacity, especially if heavy items will be stored in the drawers. Inquire about the maximum load-bearing capacity from salespersons during the purchasing process.

3. Conduct on-site experiments when selecting guide rails. A good-quality guide rail should offer minimal resistance when pulled out, with no risk of the drawer falling off or toppling. Observe smoothness, resistance, and resilience during multiple push and pull tests.

The selection and installation of drawer slides are essential for the optimal functioning of drawers. Consider the size, load-bearing capacity, and structure of the guide rails to ensure a durable and efficient drawer system. Proper installation techniques guarantee smooth drawer movement and long-lasting performance.
