Cold-rolled steel plates are relatively easy to identify with the naked eye, while distinguishing between materials like 201 and 304 proves more difficult due to their similar raw materials, polishing treatments, and structures.

One significant disparity between 201 and 304 lies in their price difference based on raw materials. This price variation often concerns customers, as they fear paying for 201 or iron products while expecting to purchase 304 at a higher price. Presently, stainless steel hydraulic hinges vary in price, ranging from more than one yuan to several dollars in the market. Some customers even contact me personally to inquire about the availability of 304 stainless steel hydraulic hinges. It can be quite disheartening! Just imagine the market price of a ton of stainless steel materials and the cost of a hydraulic cylinder. Even without considering the raw material expenses, a hinge costs more than one yuan to produce when factoring in the additional costs of manual assembly and stamping machine usage. This is due to the presence of an anti-rust film on the product's surface. Unless this film is completely removed before conducting the potion test, the success rate remains relatively low. Scratching off the anti-rust film and then conducting the potion test significantly improves the success rate.

There is a more direct method to determine the quality of the raw materials, provided one is willing to go through the trouble and has the necessary tools. This involves grinding the raw materials using a grinding machine and assessing the sparks produced during the process. The following points explain how to interpret these sparks:

1. Intermittent and scattered polished sparks indicate the use of iron material.

2. Concentrated, thin, and elongated sparks resembling a line suggest a material of quality above 201.

3. Concentrated spark points aligned on a short and thin line signify the use of material of quality above 304.

By utilizing these means, one can effectively determine the quality and type of materials used in stainless steel hydraulic hinges.
