Specific installation method of damping hinge_knowledge of hinge 1

Damping hinges are an essential part of HingeIt, consisting of a support and a buffer. Their main purpose is to provide a cushion using the properties of liquid to assist us in various ways. These hinges can be found everywhere in our daily lives, especially in furniture like wardrobes, bookcases, wine cabinets, and lockers. While they may seem simple, do you know how to install them correctly?

There are three main installation methods for damping hinges:

1. Full cover: In this method, the cabinet door completely covers the side panel, leaving a small gap for safe opening. Straight arms hinges with 0mm gap are suitable for this type of installation.

2. Half cover: When two doors share a single side panel, a minimum total clearance is required between them. Hinges with curved arms, usually 9.5mm curvature, are needed in this case.

3. Built-in: For this method, the door is placed inside the cabinet next to the side panels. It also requires a clearance for safe opening. Hinges with a highly curved arm, typically 16mm curvature, are necessary.

Here are some tips for hinge installation:

1. Minimum clearance: The minimum distance from the side of the door when it is opened is known as the minimum clearance. It depends on the "C distance," door thickness, and hinge type. When the door is rounded, the minimum clearance is reduced accordingly.

2. Minimum clearance of half cover door: When two doors share a side panel, the total clearance required is twice the minimum clearance to allow simultaneous opening of both doors.

3. C distance: This refers to the distance between the door edge and the hinge cup hole's edge. The available maximum C size differs for each hinge model. Larger C distances result in smaller minimum clearances.

4. Door coverage distance: This is the distance that the door covers the side panel.

5. Gap: In the case of full cover, it refers to the distance from the outside of the door to the outside of the cabinet. For half cover, it is the distance between two doors. In the built-in method, the gap is the distance from the outside of the door to the inside of the side panel.

6. Number of hinges required: The width, height, and material quality of the door determine the number of hinges needed. Factors may vary depending on the situation, so the listed number of hinges should be used as a reference. It's recommended to conduct an experiment when unsure, and for stability, the distance between hinges should be as large as possible.

You may have hired professionals in the past to install your furniture, but with some guidance, it is possible to install damping hinges on your own. Why go through the hassle of waiting for specialized staff to come for service and maintenance when you can do it yourself?
