Specific installation method of damping hinge_knowledge of hinge

Damping hinges, a crucial component of HingeIt, consist of three parts - a support and a buffer. Essentially, their purpose is to provide a buffer that utilizes the liquid's damping properties to assist us in various tasks. In our daily lives, these hinges can be found everywhere, such as in the connection of cabinet doors in wardrobes, bookcases, wine cabinets, lockers, and other furniture. While they are a common feature, many people may not be aware of the specific installation methods for these hinges.

There are three main installation methods for damping hinges:

1. Full cover: In this method, the door completely covers the side panel of the cabinet, leaving a gap between the two to allow safe opening of the door. This requires a straight arm hinge with a 0mm curvature.

2. Half cover: Here, two doors share a single side panel, requiring a minimum total clearance between them. The distance covered by each door is reduced accordingly, and hinges with curved arms (9.5mm curvature) are needed.

3. Built-in: In this case, the door is positioned inside the cabinet, adjacent to the cabinet side panels. It also requires a clearance for safe opening of the door, and a hinge with a highly curved hinge arm (16mm curvature) is necessary.

Installation tips for damping hinges:

1. Minimum clearance: The minimum clearance refers to the distance from the side of the door when it is opened. It is determined by the C distance, the door thickness, and the hinge type. The minimum clearance decreases when the door is rounded. The specific minimum clearance for each hinge can be found in the corresponding table.

2. Minimum clearance for half cover doors: When two doors share a side panel, the total clearance required is twice the minimum clearance to enable simultaneous opening of both doors.

3. C distance: This refers to the distance between the edge of the door and the edge of the hinge cup hole. The maximum C size varies for different hinge models. Larger C distances result in smaller minimum clearances.

4. Door coverage distance: This indicates the distance that the door covers the side panel.

5. Gap: The gap refers to the distance from the outside of the door to the outside of the cabinet in the case of full cover installation, and the distance between two doors in the case of half cover installation. For built-in doors, the gap is the distance from the outside of the door to the inside of the side panel of the cabinet.

6. Number of hinges required: The width, height, and material quality of the door determine the number of hinges needed. The listed number of hinges in the figure above serves as a reference. However, it is recommended to conduct experiments when facing uncertain situations. For stability, the distance between hinges should be as large as possible.
