What is a metal salt spray test?

Corrosion is the destruction or deterioration of materials or their properties caused by the environment. Most of the corrosion occurs in the atmospheric environment. The atmosphere contains corrosive components and corrosive factors such as oxygen, humidity, temperature changes and pollutants. Salt spray corrosion is a common and destructive atmospheric corrosion.

The corrosion of salt spray on the surface of metal materials is caused by the electrochemical reaction between the chloride ion contained in the oxide layer and the protective layer on the metal surface and the internal metal. The salt spray test of our daily furniture hardware products is based on this principle and uses the artificial environment created by the salt spray test equipment to detect the rust resistance of the product. The result of the test can be judged according to the percentage and appearance of furniture hardware corrosion.

Under the same test conditions, the longer the time left in the salt spray test equipment, the better the rust resistance of the product. For example, double-layer electroplating is carried out on the basis of using high-purity electroplating, which makes the anti-rust performance better.
