From the perspective of the European economic locomotive Germany, preliminary data released by the German Federal Statistical Office on April 9 showed that China was the largest source of imports from Germany in February. Germany’s imports from China were 9.9 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 32.5%; Germany’s China’s exports amounted to 8.5 billion euros, an increase of 25.7% year-on-year.

The contrarian growth of China-EU trade benefits from good bilateral relations and complementary economic advantages. Win-win cooperation is the main tone of the development of China-EU economic and trade cooperation.

Zhang Jianping, director of the Research Center for Regional Economic Cooperation of the Academy of the Ministry of Commerce, told the International Business Daily that China and the EU are two important economies in the world, and each other is an important economic and trade partner. China is a global manufacturing country, and the European economy is highly technological. And servitization, the two sides' trade is highly complementary. China and the EU are committed to safeguarding the multilateral trading system, supporting economic globalization, and advocating free trade, which has also contributed to the resilience of bilateral trade. At the end of last year, negotiations on the China-EU Investment Agreement were completed as scheduled, and the China-EU Geographical Indications Agreement came into effect more than a month ago. Against the background that the epidemic has brought severe challenges to the global economy and trade, China has effectively contained the epidemic, promoted the resumption of work and production in an all-round way, and continued to expand its share in the global market. With the joint efforts of both sides, the total trade volume between China and the EU has achieved growth against the trend.
