Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Han Zhiqiang said in a written interview with Thai media on the 1st that China-Thailand economic and trade cooperation is mutually beneficial and has a bright future.
Han Zhiqiang pointed out that China and Thailand are each other's important economic and trade partners. China has been Thailand's largest trading partner, largest export market for agricultural products, and major source of foreign investment for many years in a row. Even under the influence of the epidemic, the economic and trade cooperation between the two sides has continued to grow strongly.
In 2021, the trade volume between China and Thailand will increase by 33% to US$131.2 billion, breaking the US$100 billion mark for the first time in history; Thailand's agricultural exports to China will be US$11.9 billion, an increase of 52.4%. From January to August this year, the trade volume between China and Thailand was about 91.1 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 6%, and continued to maintain a steady development momentum.
Han Zhiqiang said that China is willing to work with Thailand to speed up the construction of connectivity including infrastructure, to provide a broad market for more high-quality products in Thailand, and to actively promote the enterprises of the two countries to strengthen industrial investment cooperation.
He believes that while the two sides continue to expand trade and investment cooperation in traditional fields, it is necessary to focus on the complex changes in the international situation and the frontiers of world economic development, and actively explore exchanges and cooperation in energy, food and financial security, as well as in digital economy, green economy, etc.
