Design Scheme of Hinged Support Tooling in Bulk Carrier Hold_Hinge Knowledge

The construction of a bulk carrier involves the formation of the main section of the starboard and port sides in the cargo hold area, which requires structural reinforcement using channel steel or tooling during hoisting. However, this traditional method leads to material wastage, increased man-hours, and potential safety hazards. To address these challenges, a hinged support tooling design has been developed for bulk carriers to optimize the hoisting and strengthening process, resulting in significant cost savings and improved efficiency.

Design Scheme:

1. Design of Double-Hanging Type Support Seat:

To enhance the strength and prevent deformation of the general section, a double-hanging type support seat is used. It consists of two D-45 hanging yards, with an additional square backing plate for reinforcement. The distance between the double hanging codes is set at 64mm to allow sufficient space for the hanging codes in the support tube. A square bracket and bottom plate are also installed to further improve strength and prevent deformation and tearing. Proper welding between the support cushion plate and the cargo hold hatch longitudinal girder ensures a secure structure.

2. Design of Hinged Support Tube:

The hinged support tube is a crucial component that fulfills both reinforcement and support functions. It is designed to rotate easily to switch between states. The upper end of the support pipe is equipped with a plug-in pipe hanging code, allowing it to be securely fixed to the double-hanging type support seat with a bolt. Plug-in hoisting earrings are designed at the upper and lower ends of the support tube to facilitate hoisting. Circular backing plates at the upper and lower ends increase the force-bearing area and ensure structural stability.

How to Use:

1. Installation: The double-hanging type support seat is installed at the large-scale erection stage for the 5th group, while the 4th group is equipped with an eye plate.

2. Hoisting and Strengthening: Using a truck crane, the hinged support pipe is hoisted after the outer plate of the 4th and 5th group is used as the base surface horizontal general assembly. The tooling acts as a temporary reinforcement for the C-shaped general section.

3. Loading and Positioning: After hoisting and loading the general section, the steel plate connecting the lower end of the support tube and the 4th group is removed. The hinged support tube is then slowly lowered until it is perpendicular to the inner bottom. The lower earrings are inserted into the oil pump for positioning.

Improvement Effect and Benefit Analysis:

1. Time and Cost Savings: The hinged support tooling can be installed during the sub-section assembly stage, reducing the need for multiple hoisting processes and saving man-hours. The tooling's dual functions and ease of use eliminate the need for additional auxiliary tooling and redundant operations, saving crane time, material, and labor costs.

2. Improved Efficiency: The hinged support tooling design facilitates quick and easy switching between reinforcement and support states, enhancing the loading and positioning process.

3. Reusability: The support tooling is a general tooling system that can be reused after removal, minimizing waste and optimizing resource utilization.

The innovative design of hinged support tooling for bulk carriers represents a significant advancement in the construction process. It improves efficiency, reduces costs, and minimizes material wastage, while ensuring the structural integrity and safety of the cargo hold area. This design exemplifies our commitment to delivering high-quality products and excellent customer service in the hardware industry.
